How long will it take to have my dress cleaned and preserved?
Please allow 6 - 8 weeks after we receive your dress for cleaning and preservation. However, if you need your dress earlier please call and ask about our express service. Occasionally, we may exceed 8 weeks, particularly during our busy season and occasionally we may need additional time for some badly stained garments?
When and how do I pay for dress cleaning and preservation?
When:
We request pre payment at the time the order is placed. We immediately send to you a pre-paid PPP transfer box for the dress to be safely transported to our Head Office. We clean and preserve gowns in the order that they arrive. We courier the finished preservation box immediately upon completion.
How:
We have a secure online payment facility that is with paystation and the BNZ bank on an encrypted system. We can process details over the phone if that is preferred. We will then send you an invoice either via email or posted to your address for your records.
How does Prestige Preservation protect my dress?
A combination of getting the dress cleaned, pressed and then carefully placing it in a box with acid free tissue paper in it. Once secured in the inner box it has moisture and oxygen controlled sachets placed in the box. This inner box is then shrink wrapped to create a dust free environment. Two holes at the ends of the box are used to purge or extract oxygen while an inert gas is pumped in at the other end. Once the purged holes are sealed off, the inner box is placed inside the outer box that provides additional protection.
Does your method prevent the dress going yellow?
If you do not preserve your dress there is a high chance that it will yellow or discolour to some degree. The process we use to preserve your dress is also used by many museums in the United States and incorporates the latest technology in garment preservation.
How do I courier my dress to you to have it professionally cleaned and preserved?
After you have sent us the appropriate information asked on the website we will ship you the PPP transfer box that you assemble, place the dress in and then courier to us using the prepaid courier ticket. Call “Fastways Couriers” and they will pick up the box and deliver it to us. We will notify you once we receive the package and discuss any matters related to the cleaning or presentation of your dress. Once the process is complete we will courier the finished preservation box containing your dress back to you which will require your signature upon receipt.
Will the box be strong enough, how safe is my dress?
It is the same design that is used in the United States. Fastways do a great job and for peace of mind the package is covered by our insurance.
How is the veil, headpiece stored in the preservation box?
They will be inside the box. Normally they would not be visible unless we receive clearly written instructions with the dress indicating your preference for presentation or this matter may be discussed during the phone call or e-mail we make to you upon receiving your dress.
